Back in July, the world was treated to this study from Berkeley California “explaining” conservative simplisme. Now, we have Neal Starkman’s supportive contribution to a more perfect polity—dealt with at Tim Blair’s, and by Chris Muir via Bill Quick.

Time for a song.

It's 199 years past the setting of Master and Commander and a new battle is on. For the Democrats, a long stern chase in heavy seas.

Needed: a salty work chantey to spur their efforts—heaving at the ropes to hoist the mains’l yard on the good ship Dean-0-four. As it happens, I have a modest entry here, to make anyone heave. There’s even a tune* to get into the rhythm of the thing. You can hear in your mind the First Mate’s burly baritone calling the pull.

Update: If you can't see the embed loop, Click
to hear the music--one time thru. (Thanks Kathy!)

On Your “S”

In Berkeley town was a study done,
Where the scholarship’s quite muddy,
And psych profs roll out a lot o’ good fun,
Data pushed and pulled like putty—’eave!

Glaser and Sulloway’s motions told
Of the Right’s simplistic notions.
Amusing hey?—as their classmates mold,
Reading Marx for their devotions—’eave!

Are they mere intellectual truants? Quite!
Here’s scholarly incongruence;
That vast groups argue only ‘black or white’
Shows a ruddy great lack of nuance!—’eave!

They’re meta-analytical (!) science-wise
They place more or less reliance—
On a wordy thesaurus they synthesize
For symposia (and big clients)—’eave!

George Bush pinned an “S” on thee,
Ye are stupid and dull, we so decree.
Thou Babbitted cream of the bourgeoisie,
Oh, George Bush pinned an “S” on thee.

Cometh now this Starkman actor nigh
Lo, the masses’ big detractor.
D’ye think you think? well you’re ailing, aye!
Diagnosis: dread “S” factor—’eave!

Us right dim folks, we are all around,
Our minds never worth a dollar.
I’d rather swim where the sharks abound
Than study as a Starkman Scholar—’eave!

With the 'quality' vote running so lax now,
Winnow out the mindless throwbacks.
Will Equality still be rule, highbrow,
When ye’ve placed your mental poll tax—’eave!

As Neal-boy seeks for a formal key,
He worries we’ll become the normal.
Is he brighter than he, or she, or thee,
With a skull full o’ stuff from Hormel—’eave!

Are your kids in school? here’s a right good rule;
The irrational be a-scorning.
Better watch that school or, like Neal-the-fool,
Might an intellect die a-borning.

George Bush pinned an “S” on thee,
Ye are stupid and dull, we so decree.
Thou Babbitted cream of the bourgeoisie,
Oh, George Bush pinned an “S” on thee.
