Albert Gore (after Ogden Nash)
-
Shut up! Sit down! And bar the door!
You’re not familiar with Albert Gore?
Albert is stuffy, and mean, and driven.
Indifference to Albert is never forgiven.
Multiple persons in Albert may dwell,
As multiply layered as oyster shell.
Albert’s torture is plain on his face,
A need for esteem by the whole human race.
Though Albert exhibits significant talents,
His mind’s the same as his Earth; in the balance.
A desperate mind with a desperate plan,
Our Albert is really a desperate man.
Through changes in ideological clime,
Albert is pandering most of the time.
Albert is blind to the chaos he’d bring,
If we ordered our lives to his anti-growth ring.
If commerce, or trade, or our medicine shakes,
Albert must fix it, whomever it breaks.
Albert denies that a run will occur.
I’m not very certain, my wife has demurred.
In caucus or polling booth let us be sure.
Let’s lose Albert!
