Plain Cake Please
Post-simple Simon and his pie-man,
School bakers price their crullers
By content, flavor, deliciousness?
Nay, merely frosting colors.
A buck for pallid, less for tan,
Two bits alone for choc'late.
Some crullers dear while others cheap?
Is something there to balk at?
A deeper look is needed then;
What is this method costing,
To pick a cruller or a being
Worth solely in its frosting?
Know, human nature doesn't change
And we must go along.
